This year, I am so excited to be celebrating my first Mother’s Day since my little guy was born! I got to have a “practice” Mother’s Day last year while I was pregnant, but this year is the real deal. I lucked out so much that both my fiancé and my dad have always been great gift givers. Every now and then my dad will throw in something that he thinks is funny. Seriously, I have gotten a Whoopie Cushion and an electric toothbrush for the last twenty-three Christmases (eyeroll), but they never fail to get me something that I actually enjoy and use. Some women aren’t so lucky, and for the Dad that just did an internet search for “Help! What the hell do I get my wife for Mother’s Day?!” and landed here, I got your back buddy. From the kiddos, every Mama loves a little homemade card and a macaroni necklace, but from Dad? We want something good! These are my picks for this Mother’s Day (hint, hint, Daddio!).
Save: Peter Thomas Roth Meet Your Mask Kit
I unfortunately love every single one of these masks. It’s unfortunate because to buy the full size version of all of them is over $300. Yikes. These small sizes are a great way for her to decide if she likes these masks or not before committing to buying the full size. I like to use the Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask and the 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Mask together, the Rose Stem Cell Bio Repair Gel Mask (favorite smell ever!) and the Cucumber Gel Mask (I sleep in both of these) together, and the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (if she’s not used to harsh exfoliants, beware of this one) and Blue Marine Algae Intense Mask together.
Splurge: GLAMGLOW Multi Masking Kit
Again, this is a good way to figure out which of these she likes before committing to the (rather pricey) full sizes. This brand is featured constantly on beauty blogs and websites and in major magazines. That’s because THEY WORK. You will not find a better mask out there.
This is hands-down my favorite scent of all time. I picked it up at World Market on a whim and used the whole tube in just a few weeks. When I went back for more, they no longer carried it and it took me forever to find it again. The scent is pretty fresh and light, so if she’s not into heavy or floral, this is perfect. You can also get the matching hand soap, body wash, bubble bath, and body lotion to complete the set.
Splurge: La Chatelaine Shea Butter Hand Cream Gift Set
These are 20% pure Shea Butter, so if she’s got dry hands (as most of us Mamas do from hand and dish washing) these are just the ticket. It comes with three different scents, Lavender, Lychee Bilberry, and Lemon Verbena, so she can mix it up or choose her favorite to get in a larger size. The travel size tubes are perfect for throwing in her purse, diaper bag, or car. Plus, the tin is really pretty. I would put it on my nightstand to put my loose jewelry in when I go to bed.
Bold pendants are going to be really popular for Spring this year and this one is great because it can be worn two ways. She can wear it with the tassel in the front, or in the back. (I think this would be super cool with an open back top and a topknot.) It also comes in Rose Gold and Silver to best suit her style. Vera Bradley was my go-to brand in Junior High School (hello, had to keep up with the trends) and I love that they have more luxurious, adult-y options now.
Alexis Bittar makes some gorgeous and unique-looking jewelry. While the price is a bit higher than some other options, you can guarantee that no one else in the office or at the grocery store will have the same one on. This pendant is also sure to get lots of compliments and “Ohmygosh where did you get that”s, which everyone loves whether they admit it or not.
Fragrance is a pretty personal choice, but from experience, I can confidently say that most people love these. I get asked what I’m wearing all the time when I have these on. They’re made to be layered or worn alone. All of the scents are pretty clean (duh, hence the name) with the exception of Blossom, which is a bit more floral, but not overpowering. The small rollerballs are a great way to test out these fragrances without committing to the large size. Plus, the tiny bottles are great for throwing in a purse or diaper bag.
Splurge: Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine
This is my absolute favorite scent ever. It’s fresh rather than flowery. One spray is all that you need, as it’s pretty strong. It’s really long lasting, so she won’t have to worry about it waring off as the day goes on. I love this brand so much that I actually have eight different scents from them, but this is by far my most-used go-to scent for every day.
Hydro Flasks are great for keeping her lemonade frosty-cold in the Summer and her coffee steaming-hot in the winter. While they might not come in a ton of fun patterns, there are plenty of fun color options to choose from and the price can’t be beat.
Splurge: S’well Vacuum Insulated Water Bottle
S’well bottles are all the rage right now for a good reason… They work! This thing will keep her tea hot or her water cold all day long and probably tomorrow too. They also don’t sweat, so no worries about ruining the coffee table with a big water ring. They come in a ton of patterns and colors to suit her personal aesthetic.
This is the espresso machine that I personally use and it’s a great value. My only complaint about it is that it can take a long time to warm up. For the price, it can’t be beat. Make sure you have some espresso or cappuccino cups that are short enough to fit under it. You can get the espresso mugs, by Le Creuset, that I use here.
It may seem silly to spend this much on an espresso machine, but I assure you, this baby is a Cadillac. A cappuccino out of this thing will a. change your life and b. make you question why you ever entered a Starbucks in your life (this is coming from a self-confessed Starbucks addict).Seriously, Mama needs some coffee and this thing makes the best.
This is pretty much a clone of a (much more expensive) Pottery Barn throw that I have in two colors and use every day. This light blue color is perfect for Spring and the blanket is light and soft. The style is very Joanna Gaines (if you don’t know what that means, ask your wife). The price for this one is so great that I’m honestly a little upset that I ever bought the Pottery Barn one to begin with.
Ever since buying my first cashmere sweater a few years ago (holler Black Friday), I’ve been obsessed with all things cashmere. I never understood what the fuss was about before, but oh my gosh it’s so soft, it’s like butter. Fishers Finery is one of my favorite brands for clothes and home items in luxurious fabrics like silks and cashmere. This silk pillow case and these silk pajamas are some of my other favorite options from them.
Save: Amazon Echo Dot
Alexa will basically become Mama’s new (unpaid) assistant. She can play music, place Amazon orders, tell you the weather, and answer those random questions that she has throughout the day. You can also get sleeves for the Dot to make it fit into your home decor seamlessly. Check them out here (fabric) and here (leather).
Splurge: Amazon Echo
The full-size echo has higher quality speakers than the dot. It also has a wider range. If she plays a lot of music or if your house is fairly large, I suggest going with the full-size echo. You can also purchase Dots to go with the Echo to extend the range throughout your house. (Anyone else thinking of Smart House right now?)
I love this smell, but the real treat here is the jar. This is probably one of the cutest candle jars I have ever seen. The scent is fresh and not too heavy. All Paddywax candles have a pretty long burn time and I have yet to find a scent that I didn’t like. I would keep this jar and use it for q-tips, cotton balls, or my make-up brushes in my bathroom.
Splurge: Diptyque Votive Candle Trio
You will never find better candles than these. Pricey, but so worth it for the scents. Plus, they are high quality and burn evenly. Again with these, I like to save the jars to hold my make-up brushes, q-tips, and cotton balls in my bathroom. If you pay that much for a candle, might as well recycle the container, right?!

not so subtle hint.
Happy Mother’s Day!
